With our travels we have done many {heaps!} crossing over from New South Wales to Queensland {and back the other way}. When leaving Nimbin New South Wales I knew that I was going to add another new way to cross over!
David and I play little games! Like can we find another way to cross the border? So that we drive down roads we haven’t been on, and see places we haven’t seen. Our Paper Map {Dave and Kyle have this fascinating for maps!} is now marked in black pen – full of many roads that we have been on.
Crossing Over From New South Wales To Queensland
After the Magical weekend at Nimbin Roots Festival, and seeing so many incredible bands playing and even a live family circus act along with talented poets, it was time to get the Spaceship back into QLD. It was late Sunday, and I kept postponing the time that I was leaving Nimbin.
In reality, I didn’t want to leave.
In real life, I needed to be closer to Brisbane by Monday morning – I had to return back to my family Monday night.
In a fantasy world, I was trying to work out how I could stay in Nimbin – like for real. How could I move there! What would I be able to do to make that happen, how could I make that move happen?
But then again the itchy feet would soon start the process all over again – a bit like a kid in a candy store, what lolly would I want next!
I think my heart is still in Nimbin {hey maybe that is why this cough is still hanging around – I am needing to be back in Nimbin to have the healing vibes of the small country town}.
Nimbin You Still Have My Heart
The drumming on the Friday night.
The live traveling family circus on the Saturday.
The incredible talented Band on the Saturday night – I have never felt the music like that!
The Sunday where I found the Candle Factory at the Bush Theatre.
Where the street markets sold incredible jewelry. Still wished I had purchased the healing necklace that I stumbled upon.
The friendly vibe from every single person I meet – the owner from Hippy High Herbs, how can I ever say thank you enough?
The Crossing Over From New South Wales To Queensland took me on the most incredible scary, funny, windy, narrow road I have come across.
At first, I had the GPS working, and then it dropped out so I had to use the Paper Map. And then I went with gut instinct telling me if I was going the right way.
Over the weekend I had the most basic meals ever – Boiled Eggs with Salad for EVERY SINGLE meal. So I had to stop and buy steak and squeaky cheese {halloumi}
Do You Know How Hard It Is To Buy For One Person? I never realised because I buy for our family – but to buy food for one person is next to impossible because everything is ina pack of 2! So I bought a pack of 2 steak – and cooked both up! Eating one that night for dinner, and the other one the next day for lunch.
I was meant to stay at a showground. But when I got there {so late at night} I was turned away. They were in a lockdown situation with the recent fires in the area, and they had taken the show grounds over with the Fire/Rescue services co-ordinated from that showgrounds. I was told to get out of the danger area and to head to the Goldcoast.
Gosh was that a very long day! I had been driving for hours by then, and all I wanted was my Steak and Salad and Squeaky Cheese and a hot shower and sleep.
I got everything but the hot shower!
So Glad I Had The Spaceship
The comfort of the Spaceship Campervan helped make Crossing Over From New South Wales To Queensland a lot smoother! Even if I was so extra careful, pulling over to let other cars zoom past me, even if those bends were super scary -with the Signs all saying “Watch out for Trucks” – where the hell was I supposed to go if there was a truck coming I am not sure!
I could have easily driven up the same way that I drove down – the highway. But I don’t like the easy way. I like the roads we haven’t been on before, I really like the unknown and wondering where I will be and what will be coming up.
Do You Like The Unknown Paths?
Are you a person who likes to travel the same pathway or do you like the unknown roads? I love to travel to places we have never been to before, and roads that we haven’t been on before!
I still can’t believe that I was in Nimbin. That I took a 4-day adventure all by myself. That I booked a train, picked up the Spaceship Campervan, drove to Nimbin, stayed at the Showgrounds, walked all over the streets of Nimbin, meet amazing people, drove the crazy way back to the Goldcoast, free camped at the Goldcoast, took the Spaceship Campervan back to Brisbane, caught the City Cat to South Bank and then had to catch a Bus all the way from Brisbane to Bundaberg {the trains were not working!!}
Born A Gypsy
I guess in one of my previous lives I was born a Gypsy. Cause I have this urge to pack up and keep going on the next adventure, and the next and the next – I would easily live out of a Backpack. Ops better be careful what I say cause the Universe is always listening and will provide! I could easily live out of a Campervan and disappear into the roads where there made of dirt and dust.
Life is Amazing.
If you think about what we have done, where we have been and where we are going in the future – Life is freaking amazing!
Where Are You Traveling To?
Share your next traveling adventure? Your next holiday? Your next escape/explore from life – we would love to hear about where you are traveling to next 🙂
Crossing over From New South Wales To Queensland was a journey, the destination is not important.
Cheers

New Life on the Road
Your photos are awesome! They really add a lot to your article. Do you use a high end camera or a smartphone to get such great shots?
Oh thank you for your very kind words. My camera is a Nikon D3400 – I don’t use my phone cause its not a good camera on it 🙂
So glad you enjoyed your visit to Nimbin- not everyone ‘gets’ it. And be warned, most of the community here were gypsies- from all over Australia and the world, finding a magical village where diversity is the the norm. We visit, we come back, visit again and never leave. By the way, the giant mushroom at 7 Sibley, Nimbin’s Sustainable Living Hub was an installation I made for the Nimbin market at Mardi Grass 2019 and is no longer there, but if you return now has many more new installations in the garden
