For the past few weeks Zachery, Nicholas, Cameron and Kyle have been using Skwirk Interactive Schooling program. There are many reasons why our boys are enjoying the Online Education.
They are learning without realising it, and having fun – they even bug me to get onto the computer so that they can have “Their Turn”!
Online Education While on the Road
When we are out and about our boys love learning from life. If we go to Boondall Wetlands, then they are learning from being there. If we go to the beach then they are learning about their environment. They are even learning when we are going shopping! (no eyes rolling here)
There maths is taken care of when we go shopping, their english is taken care of when they are looking up a recipe and working out what to add to the shopping list!
Skwirk Program
When we are home they are asking to use Skwirk. Forget their work books – they would rather learn online. Which is really handy because once they have finished their lessons I am able to ask them what they have learnt, and even receive a written review for Nicholas and Cameron’s work by email 🙂
Skwirk Program Review:-
I like that each level is suitable for each of our boys.
I really like that they are keen to learn.
Our boys love the colourful animations.
They can create their own word searches.
Even Kyle (who is six) can now log-in and set about doing his work, without me being there!
Kyle Loves Learning With Skwirk Games!
Skwirk will speak as if a teacher is teaching them – it’s almost like they are in a classroom!
Once they have finished their lesson limit (they all have time limit otherwise I would never have the computer back!!) they can book mark their page and return to their lesson at another time!
Each of our boys are able to have their own account, for their ages and is based on schools Curriculum content.

School and at Home
Most Schools are now using Skwirk program as well as parents, so if your child goes to school, and wants to show you what they did that day, you are able to register for Skwirk. You can then log-in and together you can share their school day….sure beats hearing –
Mum – “What Did you do at school today”
Child – “Nothing”
Mum – “So what do you learn?”
Child – “Nothing”
Mum – “You went to school all day and you learnt nothing?”
Child – “Yep”
Have you ever had one of those conversations? We sure have over the years – with all of our boys…our teenagers where the worse for it!
Cameron History Lesson ~
Learning about Gold!
Skwirk Point System
Our boys are now trying to see who has the “Most Points” – they are trying to learn more points than each other….not realising that they are doing their school work!
Skwrik Benefits
Our boys can work at their own pace, and log-in when they are wanting to learn! They have animations, videos, exams, podcasts, learning sheets, and students reports sent to parents. It’s the online education that every family will want while homeschooling!
Skwrik is Suitable for ages from the start of school to year 10. It covers the core topics – Maths, Science, Technology, English, History, Geography, Commerce, SOSE and HSIE.
Nicholas Maths ~
He is learning yet doesn’t yet realise it!!
As our boys are exploring Skwirk we will have more detailed Skwirk Reviews, from the view-point of each childs age. For the time being we would love you to be able to use Skwirk for your family.
If you have school age children, and would like to have access to Skwirk then all you need to do is leave a comment below. Comment about how you would like to have Skwirk and I will be able to send you an email with more information and access for a discount price!
Do You Like The Idea of a School Based Program that you can use at Home?

I’ve had a look at this and it does look good. My sister home educated her twins for primary school, and now they are sailing around the Med. It’s amazing to see how much kids just absorb when at home, and how deep the level of conversations have become. Can really see how well home ed can work, especially for self-motivated, interested kids.

Hi Seana,
I love the program – and its perfect for either homeschooling or when they are at school!!! As you can either help them while teaching them on the road, or you can join to see what they have been learning at school.

What a great program, Lisa.
Ella has just started kindergarten and the teacher has given me the program they’ll be using in the classroom so I can work with Ella on it at home (I asked. She’d not making me do it!). We were doing a bit of ABC Reading Eggs last year, but I’m looking forward to doing something that entails all subjects.

Hi Kellie,
That sounds so good – do you know what the program is called? We use Reading Eggs but we really like a more advanced all over program and Skwirk is able to provide that!
Have fun with Kindergarten – I think that must be like Prep in Queensland schools?
Cheers

Hello Lisa, I’m new to your blog and as we leave for 12month trip around oz with three children in September I’m madly flicking from Page to page taking it all in!! Homeschooling is giving me the most anxiety at the moment as there is almost too much info on web and I don’t know where to start. I looking forward to exploring your blog and picking your brains. Regards Julianne.
Ps. I’d love to has access to Skwirk if you think it is suitable for 10, 7, and 4 years. Julianne.
Hi Julianne,

Hi Kate,
So very sorry but I have only just seen this message tonight.
Maybe you could contact Skwirk on Facebook (let them know that New Life on the Road sent you on over) to see if they are still able to give our readers a good deal?
Its been a while since we have used Skwirk due to lack of internet!!

yes, you and your kids are right one can learn from the situations they come across, where they go, what they do, what they see and all. Each is the source of education, and yes! one can learn maths when they go for shopping. So, its great a student can learn everything from what they do, and where they visit. Good blog speaking about the programs. Thank you for sharing the knowledge, keep sharing.
