Today we took a day off from school and went to a special event in Mackay Entertainment Centre. Its part of the Mackay Region Festival of Arts Earthly Delights 2012 program!
Todays event was called “Jack Sturgeon Lunchbox Concerts” – where our boys could take their lunch boxes and listen to a live concert!
A Day In The Life with Us!
We all slept in this morning so its was bit crazy trying to get ready in time! Breakfast was cornflakes instead of porridge, and lunches were put together in haste! Luckily I had made sandwiches last night so it was only a matter of getting fruit, snacks and drink bottles ready.
Soon it was 10.00am and it was one last rush to the toilet before heading off in the car……along the way stopping to talk to the head cleaner who was working today (I asked to have the day off!)
Driving along I remembered that I needed a cold coin donation (for the event) so I stopped in Woolworths – grabbed the Muffin specials “mixed muffins/danish” – 4 for $6.00, two Chupa Chups and cash then raced back to the car.
When we got to MECC (Mackay Entertainment Convention Centre) we were super lucky as there was a car spot available very close! We made the mad dash inside – to find out that it didn’t start on time!!
One of the Bands ~ Drumming together ~
sorry about the quality of the photo…to hard to take a good one with all the lights on stage 🙂
Sitting there listening to the numerous school bands, solo piano players, watching the Scottish Highland Dancers and listening to the Guitar singer was such a delightful day – even if my boys were asking “Can we go to the Library Now” a few times (actually it was few too many times!)
Scottish Highland Dancers ~
Again I couldnt get a good photo!
School Marching Band ~
They played really well.
How to keep them entertained long enough to stay till it was finished?
Kyle and Cameron ~
Watching (kinda) and eating!
Cameron Looking out the window ~
Yep Chupa Chups to the rescue!
At about 1.00pm (or maybe a bit after) the Lunchbox Concert was finished. We headed straight to the library.
Kyle at the Mackay Library ~
I am sure they only go there to make something with this big bricks!
Within no time it was a little bit after three pm. So we rushed out the door and was heading home. When I remembered that I needed to pick up fruit n veggies. A quick stop – left the boys in the car to amuse themselves while I ran in quickly! – and then on our way.
When we got back to our Motorhome I remembered that I had booked three of our boys into the “Mobile Hair Dresser” that had turned up in the caravan park. Actually I am not sure when they turned up, only noticed their sign out of the front of their van this morning.
Professional Hair Cuts ~
First time we have had Hair Cuts outside another person Caravan!
I knew that Kyle so needed a hair cut, and Cameron kept asking me to give him one, as well as Nicholas – he got into trouble the other day at Army Cadets for having long hair at the back! The guy was so good – he must have worked with a lot of kids cause he was super relaxed and was able to cut Kyle’s hair no worries – even though Kyle wriggled and squirmed the whole time!
Kyle’s Serious Look ~
He is not into getting his hair cut!
Cameron Having A Hair Cut ~
Amazing how quick the guy worked!
He was almost finished when David came down and joined us. A few more minutes of talking (about mining work) paying (he was so very cheap) it was time to head back to our Motorhome for a quick coffee before David rushed out the door to work.
Just Had To Get A Photo Of his Door ~
Professional Hair Cuts Caravan Door….love it 🙂
I kept putting off doing Dinner – which turned out to be Rice with Veggies (honey and soya sauce!) – and our boys ended up getting into bed very late.
While I was getting the dishes ready to be washed up I was trying to find the bus keys! David had locked the boot to keep the boys out of his tools, and I needed to do a load of washing. I texted him and rang him but there was no answer. So I enlisted Zachery’s help as he is able to search in cupboards a lot easier than me – he can see higher!
After 30 minutes and looking in every cupboard we found them! Washing is now on, and as I am typing this I am waiting for it to be finished so that I can take it down to the dryer.
Once its dried then I have to fold it and bring it back home. So I guess I am in for another late night! Oh well – maybe I can get some sleep after its dried?
So that is a Day in the Life With New Life on the Road – yep its still raining! Yep I still need to take some photos of all of the mud around our bus!
A great day out. A great way to end the day (with haircuts!) even though I still have washing to do – hoping to watch a girly DVD while waiting!
Not a very glamorous life but its our life 🙂
What Is Your Day Like In Your Life?
Cheers

New Life on the Road
I have been reminiscing about taking our children to the library. It is great that they have the big blocks there. The kids love the challenge and they would be too big for the bus I guess. Our kids always loved the library – for similar reasons!

Hi Jan,
Those blocks are fantastic! And yeah they wouldnt fit in our bus.
Our boys always ask to go to the library!

Do you ever just shake your head and think “Is this really my life?” What an amazing, ongoing adventure you and your family are having. I love reading about it.
(And also, I hope I hope I hope I will hear “Can we go to the library now” with regularity).

Hi Naomi,
Its funny but its become our way of life so I kinda feel weird when someone tells me “You have such an amazing life” !! I think that sometimes I am wondering if its a dream and other times I realise how grateful and wonderful our life is.
Our boys go to the library every couple of days!
Cheers
