Or is it Mangoes and Bats? I guess you could say one goes hand in hand with the other! Have a Mango tree in your backyard, turn it into a wonderful you beaut Tree House and see the Bats destroy the fruit and leave a huge mess.
Today it was yard work {again!}. The Mangoes are falling out of the tree, a bit eaten out of them, and are so very smelly as they are decomposing – plus the Mowing can’t be done unless you want to have minced up Mango seed hitting you in the fact/legs, so it was “rake it up day” – where Mum does all the racking, and the boys do all the complaining, standing around and watching {helping out when they have to} and taking them into the Paddock for the cows to eat.
Oh yeah they can ride the Ride on Mower and with the trailer behind, and they can empty them out into the paddock no worries! Its the hard part of raking them up they both don’t like. Which I am cool with cause its a great workout.
Well today was a bit different – both boys ran back to our Motorhome and was like “I am so not getting up into our Tree House today, there is a Bat caught in the Fruit Net and its still alive”
So yes we collected the Mangoes that we could reach from the lower branches, and the ones that had fallen out of the tree that was not attacked by the Birds/Bats. But we left the Bat alone till David got home, and he carefully worked out a safe way to cut it lose!
Bats And Mangoes ::
Yes we collected two big bowls this morning, and one more this afternoon. We had five each for lunch {that was all I felt like eating cause it was too hot!}, and David had some for dessert tonight. The boys have made up a rhythm to go with them!
Mangoes Poem ::
Mangoes For Breakfast,
Mangoes For Lunch,
Mangoes For Dinner.
Mangoes For Dessert.
Now I have got the Runs 🙂
Yeah its a BOY thing! The Bat sure was a cutie, even though it was super angry.
I had to find a very sharp pair of scissors. David cut the Net away the section the bat was stuck in – and the was able to pick up the Net that had the attached Bat, lower it onto the Tree House Platfrom, put a Blanket over the bat to calm it down so that it did not move and he slowly untangled the Net.
Even after all that the Bat wasn’t happy – didn’t even give David a Hug Thanks, or High Five to say thanks! Nothing, which by the way David was cool with cause he didn’t need a hug from those claws!
None of us noticed it till today, but then again we didn’t look up the Tree for the last few days. After David cut it lose the poor thing was on the ground for some time, eating eating and eating more Mangoes! Maybe trying to get its strength back before flying off?
After he had it covered in the old Sheet, and had the Net Cut away from the Bat, he was not strong enough to work out how to move or get off the floor of the Tree house. So David got the sheet near the Bat, he reached out for it with his sharp claws and David was then able to move the sheet to the edge of the Tree House. Where the Bat soon realised that it could hang upside down.
We left it there, and later on found it on the ground eating! Maybe tomorrow it will be gone?
But wasn’t getting any closer to take any risks. Both Cameron and Kyle realise that Bats are not to be played with because they do have sharp Claws, and their scratches can be dangerous. But they are also big Animal Lovers {well Kyle is more then Cameron} and was super happy that it survived being cut out of the Net, and that David was able to help it out.
Do You Have Bats And Mangoes At Your Place?
Cheers
Lisa
