We have been to the Blow Hole at Kiama twice so far (that is the Bigger one). Once was when it was raining and really windy. It was really something to see, the other time was a bit of a let down because the waves were not that big! Yet we love going there so I am sure we will return again soon.
Love Hearts ::
Rhiannan and Dave ~ 3.11.12
This one is only a few months old!
The first time we went there one of our boys (I can’t remember who) said “Look, there is Love Padlocks on the railings. We must be at that famous bridge where everyone puts them up”. David and I laughed because we were talking about the Love Padlocks on the Bridge in Paris the week before. We had seen a photo of it and thought it was incredible how MANY padlocks were on one bridge.
Apparently couples add their details to the locks, and chain them on the bridge.
Every few years someone comes along and cuts them down – takes them away. Only to have the bridge once more covered again….and then there are bridges where the locks are left alone for many years…and couples return on special anniversaries to see their padlock, take photos and add an updated lock (kinda like an anniversary present where they state how many years they have been married).
I so think its the most romantic thing I have ever heard (seen) yet never thought to engrave a lock and add it to a railing…
Have you heard of it?
Or seen it done?
Maybe you have your own Love Heart Story? Or maybe you even recognize one of the locks that are at the Big Blow Hole Kiama because you added your own love padlock there?
What Do You Think About Sharing Your Love With Others?
Thanking you for following our journey.
Cheers

New Life on the Road.
I’ve never seen that! The Kiama Blowhole is such fun aye?! We went there on a stormy day with the dark sky behind, the lighthouse a brilliant white and a rainbow on the horizon, spray coming up in front. Such a beautiful moment.

It sure is a wonderful place to visit. And the Love Padlocks are amazing 🙂
I have seen these at the Cinque Terre. That one looks a bit tacky, but they are all over Europe, mainly on bridges I believe and they look cool.

I reckon they are such a cool way to share your love with others 🙂
Hi! I’m proud to say that my husband and I are the proud owners of the Blue lock up the top. We were married in Kiama in November last year. The reason I have come across the site is a friend of ours is in Kiama and said our lock had been removed. I’m really sad about this and hoping the council kept them and did not throw it away.
Hi Rhiannon,
so good to hear from you!! So very sorry that the Kiama Council has taken the Locks Down 🙁
I loved seeing them all and reading the names/dates.
Would love to hear if you are able to get your lock back!!
Cheers
Lisa
Hi Lisa, I am sorry to say after many phone calls and emails, we were unable to get our Lock back. It seems whoever took them down, threw them all away. Pretty devastated about this, as it was a gift from my family to my husband and I and we hoped to add our first child’s name on there at some stage. Oh well, at least we have the photos.
That is so cool that the owner of one of the locks spotted your photo. What are the chances ????
I have been collecting padlocks that I find lying on the road for years and most of them are open but with no key. They obviously fall off toolboxes when the haven’t been clicked shut.I have them just hanging on my shed wall with no real purpose because I don’t have keys for them. Well guess what I know exactly what I am going to do with them now. I’m going to secure my love for my family all over the country 🙂
Thanks for the great idea Lisa
I am so looking forward to seeing where you leave your Love Locks around on your travels 😉
And to see what you have written on them!
Its such a small world….incredible who finds us 🙂
