For our trip on the Road in Our {New} Camper Van David used our Camp 6 Book. It has now paid for itself many times over as we were able to look up cheaper places to stay or even found Free Camping Spots.
On the Tuesday Evening ::
We stayed at Milton Showgrounds For $18.00 Number 608 Milton Showgrounds Page 141 in the Camp 6 Book.
Which gave us access to the showers and toilets. It did not matter how many of us there was, nor did it matter how big our vehicle was – it was per site! The Way travelling Australia should be.
Then on the Wednesday night ::
We stayed at Orbost {Victoria} Caravan Park for the evening. Number 15 Snowy river Orbost Camp Park Page 186 in Camps 6 Book.
It was $30.00 which gave us hot showers and toilets. Plus a great BBQ area where we could sit and eat dinner as well as cook it on their BBQ. For an over night stay it was perfect.
On the Thursday Night – To Monday Morning ::
We stayed in Cabins on the Mornington Peninsula. They were not cheap, and yet they were necessary. We needed a place to stay comfortably – and somewhere we could all get together because we had family that travelled from other states, and it was easier to make every one comfortable. They were cabins that we had researched online and booked before we arrived.
Mind you if we had our time again for the same reason {seeing our second son March out Parade} we would have stayed somewhere closer to St Kilda and most likely rented a holiday Home 🙂
Monday Night ::
That was the most perfect night of all. We stayed at Warby Range State Park for Free. Number 241 Wenhams Camp Warby Range State Park Page 198 in the book.
Camping with wildlife and going for a 4.5K walk in the morning before hitting the road. It has a Drop Toilet which was a bit smelly. There is a tank but its not suitable for drinking. No showers and no power. What I so needed, it was actually the best nights sleep we ever have had.
Like I said Perfect
Tuesday Night ::
We stayed at Tallangatta Show Grounds. 111 Tallangatta Showgrounds Page 191 of the Camps Book.
Ringing ahead we got to speak with a great lady who let us know there was Caretakers at the Showgrounds, and that the fee was $15.00 – PER site. Not per person, Not Per Vehicle. WHICH was perfect for us because all we needed was hot showers and the toilet.
I asked the Caretakers and they said that the $15.00 applies to big rigs, and Dogs are allowed, and its not per child….which we found was the best priced stay on our trip.
Wednesday Night ::
On Wednesday we were very late pulling into our Free Over night rest stop. It was 20 Km North of Cooma, an hour before Canberra. Number – 658 Page 143 of the Camp 6 Book – Numeralla River Rest Area.
Again it has no showers, no power and only a Drop Toilet…which was so very smelly because the Vents were not working! But it was a pretty spot near the creek.
Thursday Night ::
We headed straight for Canberra on Thursday and checked in early to Exhibition Park Camping Ground. Number 723 Page 145 in The Camp 6 Book.
The phone number in the book is not the right one, they are aware of the Book having the wrong number and have corrected it for future Camp books! Their number to call is 02 6205 4976.
To stay there its per person and if your vehicle is a Big Rig then you get charged extra. We thought $35.00 was a bit over priced for showers and toilets but we were happy to be there because it meant we could explore Canberra and meet with my brothers for dinner!
Friday ::
We left Canberra late in the afternoon, after visiting the War Memorial. Driving down to Batemans Bay and up to Green Patch in Jarvis Bay. Number 603 GreenPatch Campground Boonderee National Park Page 141 of Camp 6 Book.
We didn’t get to stay there because of needing to be back to our Motorhome Friday Night but we did walk around and check out the spot…with the Promise of going back to camp there next weekend.
To which I can’t Wait!!
This trip we have covered a lot of places, seen a lot of attractions and crossed off a place on our Bucket List. We have now got a taste of travelling in many different places with seeing many different attractions, and now we have our travelling itch taken to another degree!!
In the next few weeks we will be sharing what we did each day, and have lots of Pictures of our adventures!
Have You Got A Camp 6 Book?
If Not You SO Need It For Travelling Australia!
Cheers

New Life on the Road
Yes Lisa, we have one. We have not given it much of a work-out as we sold our caravan but it will come in handy again one day. The War Memorial at Canberra is really interesting isn’t it?
Highly recommend the Camp 6 Book.
Yep I love the War Memorial…..will have to try and take the boys back again one day soon!
