The main reason why we had a Spaceship Campervan was to drive down for the Eden Whale Festival. And to see my life long dream – a Whale in the Ocean.
Its a life long dream to see Whales up close and personal, and once I heard about the fact that there was a record amount of whales down in Eden I was very keen to make a trip down there possible. We are so very lucky to be in the position we are at the moment, something I never thought I would say!
We are in the most ideal location – not too far from Sydney so that we can be with our older two when they need us {especially close enough we get to say Goodbye when we can} and not too far from locations down south. Funny enough Wollongong is the ideal location to see more of Australia in depth for us all.
Setting off late Thursday we stopped at Waldron Swamp Rest Area overnight. Then on the Friday we headed to Eden. Our first stop was to the Tourist Information Centre where I sourced out the best places to explore and the accommodation was sorted for the Friday night – I ended up paying for a camping spot so that we all could charge our Computers/Samsung Tablets/Phones and also have a hot shower. It was also an ideal location – Boydtown Caravan Park. It cost us $30.00 for the night {for three of us} and it was the only time I paid for accommodation on the whole trip.
Hint :: Next time arrange accommodation before heading to Eden Whale Festival cause everything in town was fully booked out!!
Saturday Morning ::
We were melting on the main street of town, watching the Festival begin and go past. Yet I had forgotten Eden Crazy Weather that can happen down there – it was cold by the afternoon and the storm came in.
Next time we ever head back to Eden I sure hope to remember warmer clothes – I didn’t have any socks for me, and our boys could have done with Beanies, Scarfs, and track suit pants to keep warmer. And protection against the rain – try cooking in the rain/wind, its not fun!!!
Main Street of Eden ::
This Huge Truck stopped right in front of us, and put a display on – working the controls so that the back of the truck expanded and then reversed his moves so that the truck was once again almost half its size!
Kyle Took the Following Pictures – he must really LOVE olden Day Cars….
Cause he was so very keen to get as many pictures as possible!
When the parade was finished, and after we visited the Eden Killer Whale Museum we went to the Eden Whale Lookout for an early dinner and to look for more whales. While there we got to see this Black Beauty….Kyle was so very fascinated with this car – he took this picture…..
He really liked the “Lucky 13” Badge that was on the back of the car!
Rotary Park Lookout is the place where we visited frequently for the toilet facilities, the playground, the view and to cook meals! Its also called “Eden Whale Watching Lookout”
Have You Been To the Eden Whale Festival?
Now that We Are Back I have lots of Eden to share! Check back here to read about the many places we visited.

I am not into old cars either Catherine, but it looks like our youngest son Kyle is 😉
The trip to Eden was so magical and more special because I was able to visit places that I had seen as a young kid!
How cool! I love all those cars. I’ve been to Eden but not for a long time… must really go back – it looks great!!!

Oh my gosh I absolutely love, love, love old vintage cars. I would grab a beer and some eats and just enjoy watching them cruise on by. So much fun, Lisa! 🙂
