On one of our trips from Sydney to Bundaberg we stopped at some amazing places overnight. But Kilkivan Bush Camping Ground was the one place where we only stayed one night, and I couldn’t wait to get back there again. So yep we haven’t shared this trip from years ago {I couldn’t open my pics on my broken computer until we pulled the hard drive apart}.
So I shared our Easter Weekend Camping Trip, now I am sharing our pics from when we stayed there about two years ago – or was it longer than that?
And talk about how dry it was years ago – this time it was so green and so much grass. Last time we went for a drive to see the Chimney but we didn’t get to see it as we had our camper van with us, and we turned around before we got to the end of the road.
Last time there was no grass for any of the animals – the horses all looked like they had to be supplemented. The deer were all over the side of the roads trying to find grass – there was nothing green.
This time we were amazed at how abundant the grass was, how green, how long….it was such a difference.
Yet the last time it was almost winter time, it wasn’t a holiday period and there was hardly anyone there! We had so many camp sites to chose from, it was so peaceful.
The Easter weekend was so busy but we loved it – our boys had so much fun because there was so much to still do, and so many other amazing kids to play with.
So it doesn’t matter what time of the year you go, Kilkivan Bush Camping Ground is amazing and I highly recommend it to all families with kids and if you have a fur baby they are also very welcome 🙂
When we stayed here {a few years ago} this river bed was dry. The Bush Camping Owners gave our son permission to use his gold pans in the river bed as there was no water.
The reason we stayed at Kilkivan Bush Camping Ground was because I had seen there was a gold mine down the road and our family are keen gold miners. But unfortunately once we got there we had seen a sign outside his place that said it had been closed down. It was such a disappointment to our son, but hey at least we found the best Camping and Caravan Park in Queensland!
This Easter weekend there was so much water in it that the kids were able to swim and have fun – sorry I didn’t think to take my camera with me to get pictures of it!
Yeah the grass was dead a few years ago – so much different when they get some good rain!
So wished I had walked around more with my camera while camping there over three nights to see the difference between this trip to the current trip but I was enjoying the moment to much to think about my camera!!
What I really like about Kilkivan Bush Camping Ground is the fact its family owned and run.
They are super kid friendly.
So laid back and chilled out.
They love dogs!
They even let you camp there with horses {yes we seen two horses camping there!}
and there camp ground is like it used to be when us parents were kids – David remembers camping at places just like Kilkivan and he is excited that his own kids get to experience the same camping moments – connecting with other kids and making life long friends.
Now to work out when we can get back there again!
Have You Stayed At Kilkivan Bush Camping Ground?
Share your experience, would love to know if you were there over the Easter weekend!
Cheers
