What has our week been like? In one word? If I was to sum up our last week in one word it would have to be “Waiting”. Life on the Road is not all roses and happy times. Not to say that I would love lots of roses and sweet memories.
Life On The Road Our Past Week
The last week we have all been WAITING. For lots of things…
- Waiting For Nicholas Foot to heal. Which it is very slowly.
- Waiting For more details about my trip to Melbourne. It looks like I have a hired car all sorted out – now I need to work out accommodation!
- Waiting for David to finally finish the engine cover box. He is making a wooden box to help with the noise and the heat of the engine while driving.
- Waiting to find our when our Oldest son Passport can be approved so that I can get my original copy of my birth Certificate back – its only been four months!
- Waiting for the rain to stop so that we can spend a weekend at the GoldCoast visiting Movie World, Sea World and Wet n Wild!!
- Waiting for a phone Call. David has applied to a mining job and we are holding our breath that he gets that one, or even the other job where he can work on a farm and we can all be there working/living together. Either jobs would be perfect for our Travel Lifestyle
- Waiting for my older son to move to Sydney so that we can work out what to do for his 18th Birthday. Gosh where did the time go?
Life On The Road When It Rains
I am going to be very honest here – it suxs when it rains. There is mud every where, and the mold grows faster than I can clean it. Gosh I must get some Clove Oil – I keep forgetting until I see more mold.
It also makes it harder to travel when it rains. Maybe because I don’t like to be in a car when its raining so hard that you can’t see in front of you….maybe because I have such itchy feet. Or maybe because four boys cooped up with nowhere to expel their extra energy – whatever it just has not been a great week.
Kyle Is SO very cheeky!
Nicholas foot looks like it was a boil. We have used anything and everything to heal it naturally. And it has worked. He now has it open to let the air heal it, and is walking on it. Silly bugger still will not put on shoes…maybe I should have video tapped his screaming while Daddy was cleaning it every night as a reminder that it hurt so much!
Nicholas Foot ~
Its getting better and there is no more puss so its healing!
Our Week Online
Last Monday we had our regular blog post – Featured Travel Blogger where Jan from Budget Travel shared her family journey with travelling.
Then on Tuesday we shared how we were trying to stay all Natural and away from the Doctors. Thanking all of our wonderful Facebook Fans for your amazing hints/tips/remedies. We combined a few of them, and applied it to the foot. It’s now healing with new skin tissue already growing back!
On Wednesday we joined My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday – and shared our Life on the Road….what we do when its raining cats and dogs! Wonder if you do the same in the rain?
Cameron mucking around last night!
Thursday was another update on Foot Infections. Where we had talked Nicholas into using a Salt Water Solution to soak his foot in. I was actually amazed that he agreed, and then stunned when he said “Thank-You” for helping him. He is not easy to treat when he is not feeling the best – actually he is not easy period!
Got to love those 13-year-old Hormones. It took a lot of “Please, Let Me Try It and See if it will Help” before he agreed to stick his foot in the Salt Water. Then it was such relief that he did not want to take his foot out of the water 🙂
Friday :: Mother Of All Guilt Trips was all about our youngest Son. Gosh he sure has it easy – I can never be mad at him for long because he has the most amazing smile, his eyes light up and then he gives me the most amazing gifts. I am sure Babies of the Family are the smartest…they watch their older brothers and work out us Parents before any of his other brothers were able to.
I also reckon that the Oldest of the Family has the rough deal….they get all of my parenting mistakes, and teach us more about what style of parenting that is better! I reckon they turn out more stronger, more determined to succeed and more successful because of it so I guess in the long run there is a positive to be the oldest.
Nicholas being cheeky!
Gosh that leads me to the Middle Child…Nicholas is our Middle Child and is the one we can not work out – nothing will work with him. He is not suitable to our parenting style that we used to use for our eldest son or Zachery. He is also not suitable for our parenting style that we use on the youngest because he is too cleaver for his age!! I reckon the middle child has to find their own way, and we are there only to stubble along with them.
I nearly forgot Saturday (being yesterday). Well I was not keen to do anything. It was a real let down not going to the GoldCoast for the Weekend, and with David working on the Bus we had to stay home. With the rain we were having it was a DVD/Computer Game Day. Beside I got to read two good books in one day. Guess you could say that I took some Vitamin Me Time and nope I am not going to feel guilty for it.
Which brings me to today. Sunday is my most favorite time of the week. Not sure why – we don’t do anything different, and we are not going anywhere. But every Sunday I enjoy the day the most.
Today is also our 17 Years Wedding Anniversary.
GOSH where did 17 years go to? It still feels like it’s not possible. This time 17 years ago I was getting my hair done, my make up done, getting ready to put on my dress and trying not to be sick! I was so nervous that I couldn’t eat anything without feeling like I was going to throw up.
Then I was late to the Church.
Not by my fault……actually I was early but our Driver decided to drive around the block three times so that I was late! Its meant to be good luck to turn up late to your own wedding.
Then it was all over with and there was nothing to be worried about. We never had a honeymoon as such, but one night to ourselves. Then it was back to being a Mum to our older son, moving from NSW to QLD and getting ready for our second son to join our family. I guess you could say that the time went by too quickly because we have too many gorgeous Children!
Its weird-looking back on that day, to what our life is like now. Never ever would I have thought on our Wedding Day that we would be living Life on the Road and have five boys. But life has a way of working out what we need.
Our Anniversary Breaky ~
David made the most yummiest breaky 🙂
What We Have Been Reading This Week::
We follow many bloggers and read many different blog post every week. Wish I could include them all here at New Life on the Road – but the list would be huge!
We love Lisa’s post from Renovating Italy on International Womens Day and Kony. It sure touched my heart to read about her memories, her dearest friendships and then about Lisa shared a video about Kony. I must be a bit behind because I hadn’t heard of Kony until then. Once David and I watched the Youtube Clip I jumped straight on over and joined their facebook page (Invisible Children) to support the children and to bring Kony down.
Then there was article about Pinterest. A Lawyer shut down her photography pinterest board because she was so scared of what could happen with the copy issues! Interesting information.
Our Next Week Better Be Nicer With More Sunshine and More Trips on the Road.
What Was Your Week Like?
Cheers
Lisa
from New Life on the Road.
What a week you’ve had. I’m so glad to hear that Nicholas’s foot is healing. Congrats on your anniversary, and fingers crossed on the job front! Sometimes I wonder how we as mother’s keep our sanity, and all that mud OMG my hubby would have a kitten, he is such a neat freak.
Our week has been fraught with worry and yes lot’s of rain. Sam has been feeling unwell and after trip to Dr’s has to see a kidney specialist. Rain has meant reno’s at the units have been held up, the missing tenant turned up and moved out Yay! We were scheduled to go to court re neighbors but have been rescheduled…..I can so relate to that word WAITING!!!
I can’t wait till we are all on the move to our newest dreams, with love and also thanks so much for the shout out!!
ciao gorgeous and hope the rain turns to sunshine…

Hi Lisa,
Hope Sam gets well asap. Have you tried Lemon in his Water every morning? It will help with his Kidneys! Yes rain is holding us up as well. Hope it goes soon 🙂

I hope Nicholas’s foot it back to normal soon.
Last week was great, had the week off work. Went to the gym with Sam as a casual member and might even join up.
Hi Kerry,
Thanking you for the Anniversary wishes 😉
Nic’s foot is better but it was yucky at the time! Hope you have a great time at the gym.
Cheers

Hi
I am interested on your thoughts around working away at a mining job and living on the road. My wife and I are new new to the idea of living permanently on the road but the more information we read about it the more we like the idea. We have 4 children ages 11,9,5 & 3. I work away and we are currently trying to work out the logistics of working at a minesite called Yarrie near marble bar.
I have only just started reading your blog and have learnt so much in the last few days. i look forward to reading more…
Hi Micah,
Thanking you for your great questions….I have emailed you a longer response than what I can say here!
But I guess the questions for you and your family..is do you want to travel? If so then give it a go 🙂
Working in the Mines would be ideal, as on your time off you can travel around!
Cheers
Lisa
