We have some more news on our Son Zachery Navy entry process. We thought about sharing our Updated News on Our Son over on our Facebook Page but we had too much to say in such a small space!
News About Zachery Dream
Our son Zachery aced the first interview but then got a phone call the other day to say that the Navy was not going to accept his Access 10 Certificate that he got through a TAFE in QLD because it was not recognised in NSW!
He was then told to continue with his Year 11/Year 12 through Wollongong Tafe, even though the position he was going for only needed to have year 10 Maths and English pass.
David came home from work and hoped onto the computer to research the Certificate that he has completed.
And to re-read the Navy Recruitment requirements – there is a Test that he can do if Year 10 education is not accepted. Its through the Defence Force and is only offered if you are suitable for the test.
Phone Call Or In Person
The next day Zachery wanted to call the Navy Phone Number {the call centre} but I suggested he get dressed in his good clothes and we drive in to see them in person.
Even though he did not have an appointment to see anyone and even though he was going in un-announced they were able to ask an officer to come out and see him.
Which was so good because He looked over all of his certificates – and after talking to the first officer there was a bit of confusion of why his Certificate was not accepted.
He went and got his Boss to come out and talk to Zachery.
There seems like the paperwork issues was something going on from one department to another department.
And Zachery’s application was put meant to be on “Hold” but in actual fact according to the Officers that Zachery {and I} was speaking to his application was cancelled.
The phone call that Zachery wanted to do would not have got our point across.
It payed for us to drive in to the Recruitment Center.
The two Officers we were standing in front of both didn’t understand how his Certificate was not being processed in their Office Section. And they both assured us that they would take care of the issue and get back to Zachery.
There seemed to be a broken link from the day Zachery went to his first interview to not accepting his Studies because both officers said they had not seen the Copy of his Year 10 Access II Certificate yet they should have been given a copy by now, because that was the next step in the process..
They gave Zachery a Business Card, with the promise of sorting something out in the next week or two.
And to not panic if we did not hear from them within that time frame.
Zachery headed to the Gym and I headed to a homeschooling Meet up.
With the idea of “Lets Hope They Accept The Paper Work”
Within Hours Zachery had a phone call…..
to say sorry about the mix up and to say that his Certificate had been accepted. {Insert A Happy Dance Here}
All that Zachery had to do was go home and re-ring the Call Center to re-active his Navy Enrollment Process.
So as soon as Zachery got home he rang the 131 *** number and gave his details.
Within minutes his application was active, his Power work was re-checked. Everything was in order and told to expect a Phone Call in the next few weeks regards his next 5 Hour Intense Interview 🙂
Today’s He Got The Call ::
Today his phone rang. He is now BOOKED In for the next interview.
A few people have pulled out and he has been offered a chance to fill that position. Its coming up quickly…..the interview is just over a week away.
Once he passes that stage it will be the fitness test.
Then it will be the Date to Leave for Basic Training……
My heart is happy for him, but my heart is also saying “Too SOON” 🙂
He is so over the moon excited and can’t keep his smile from his face!
NOW we have to go shopping for a Business Suit, and he MUST know the Job Descriptions that he is applying for…..
My fingers are crossed that the next step is a breeze for him, yet I know after our older son’s experience how intense this is going to be for him.
PLEASE say whatever you say to help with this test that is coming up, accepting all the love at this moment!
He is going to need our support in the next few weeks, and we will be giving it to him in any way possible – his dream is important to him so its important to us.
FINGERS are crossed.
TOES are crossed.
That Is the Updated News On Our Son application to the Navy.
Thanking you for Following our Journey.

New Life on the Road
Wow, what a mess! Thank goodness you drove in and saw them in person. I hope it is all plain sailing (excuse the pun) from now on. Zachery is very strong to take all this in his stride. I wish him all the best. 🙂

I hope everything works out for him, Lisa! I think it’s harder watching our kids apply for things that they want so badly than it is to do it ourselves – we want so much for them to get everything they want!
