While we stayed at the Free Camping Spot at Lake Tabourie Beach I looked at any geoaches that would be close enough for us to walk to, but were not too hard to find.
Silly me! We decided to try the Crampton Island Geocaching that could only be done when the tide is right – the island is cut off from the beach when the tide is in!
And it was really touching for us because David used to fish off Crampton Island when he was a teenager, and then camped on the beach/fished when he had his first car.
We loved how crazy the walk was up on the island – got lots of scratches that day from the over growth of trees/shrubs.
And I was determined to find the cache no matter what – and yep I did. Maybe it was because of the time restrictions that we had – 30 minutes to get on and off the island before the tide was too high. Or maybe it was because I just had to prove to hubby that I could find caches, whatever it worked 🙂
Crampton Island Geocaching ::
It was so good to be off the island before the tide came in! Couldn’t imagine spending a very cold wet night up there with no bedding while its winter time. In summer time it wouldn’t be so bad, but not the ideal night in winter time!
After our very quick walk to the Geocache and back to our campsite we were very lucky to see the natural wildlife in the area….and to have the most amazing meal cooked by David. When we are free camping we love to use our Thermal Cooker – he makes roast meals and even bakes chocolate cakes in the top section!
We loved our time at Meroo National Park Free Camping, Loved our time exploring Crampton Island Geocaching for the afternoon and then we loved knowing our meals were going to be ready in time for dinner because of our Thermal Cooker.
Next I share a favorite event in Sydney – can you all guess what it was 🙂
