After we stayed at the free camping spot – which we will return to as soon as we can because it was amazing – “Yarramalong Weir Free Camping” we had a destination in mind – a place we have had on our bucket list for a very long time. And nothing was going to stop us along the way to reach Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre.
I have always wanted to visit a Hot Springs – I love water. Its good for the skin, the soul and the mind. And after trying to pick a Prickly Pear Fruit from the road side the water was so very soothing for the hands…Yeah Number one Tip of Traveling Australia ::
NEVER. Ever. Stop. At A Prickly Pear Bush on the suggestion that you can eat the fruit. If you do pick one you will end up with the spikes in your hands, your hair, your arms, your clothes and it will float through the car onto everyone else. Kyle and I {we are the Silliest Ones Adventures Ones} decided that the pears looked like they would be good to eat. But if you do a google search you will see that you will need to burn the trees to get rid of the Spikes before picking them!
Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre has three different temperature pools, coolish, medium heat and very hot. There is a sign that says “Do Not Stay in the Pool for longer then 15 minutes” {or it might have been 10 minutes?} due to the heat and your body not used to it. I laughed at first, and then when we got into the Hot Pool we soon reaslied that we could only take the temperature for so long before we had to get out!
We crossed the border from Queensland to New South Wales at Goodiwindi. Which was funny because it wasn’t till after we crossed that we realised we were now in NSW!
We drove to Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre and spent about 2 hours soaking in the water – it has minerals in the pools, I am sure one of them was Magnesium {it felt so good on the skin!}
There was a huge reason why we wanted to head to the hot springs…cause of this slide! We all wanted to have turns on the fun slide but believe it or not it actually wasn’t open at that time!
The staff was amazingly friendly at the Hot Springs – one guy spent ages talking with David about his travels, and fishing trips up north in the cape. And we shared where we have been and where we were going to next!
Cameron is a our big book worm! He will read where ever we are and no matter what we are doing – yes we had heaps of books with us while traveling!
We love to free camp as much as possible, it helps to keep the cost of traveling down! But sometimes its a hit and miss type of thing – like staying at the weir was amazing, but free camping that night next to the highway was not ideal as there was too many trucks screaming past that night!
This was at Red Bank Rest Area {Over night camping spot 313 in the Camps 7 Book}. Would have been okay if we had arrived in the day time and seen that there was a little dirt track away from the busy highway. But hey it was somewhere to sleep before heading to Tamworth – oh wait to you see the amazing incredible Playground we found at the place where the music is made!
Have You Been To Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre?
I would move there any day just for the Hot Springs! Would have loved to try out there “Day Spa”
Cheers
