So its time to pack up as much as possible, and sell off as much as possible because its Nearly Time For Life On The Road. We had to delay our departure because the Big Wet Had Put Us Behind, we are now looking at heading off around Saturday 5th February.
Nearly Time For Life On The Road
Its nearly time for our journey to begin. I am so super excited and so looking forward to being on the road. We had so much before this moment – too much to do with Getting Our Bedford Comair Ready.
After speaking with a few friends we have decided to sell off more than we originally planned. I kept asking David what do we need to store, and what do we need to sell off?
He wanted to keep most of our furniture but I was worried that it would get dirty or mouldy sitting in a shipping container for too long a period so I kept asking if I could sell anything and everything.
He was not keen until he got a second opinion!! Funny how his wife can suggest what we needs to be sold, and a friend suggest the same thing – yep he agrees!!!
So Here Is What Needs To Go………..
For Our Life On The Road To Be Ready
I have been very careful with what I am packing, and what I am selling off. I have cleaned out all of our clothes in each cupboard – amazing to see how much clothes we do not really need to keep because we do not wear them!! After speaking with another family who has been on the road for over 5 years I soon realised that keeping things “Just In Case” is silly.
The family had kept things in storage but just this year they have decided to really go through and clean out the boxes, and no longer need the storage unit. That must be a great feeling – having no material items to tie them down.
So its Nearly Time For Life On The Road to be heading north. Our first stop is David’s family place so that we can off load all of our furniture into a shipping container and finish off the bus. There is still so much to complete in the bus but David is amazing…stay tuned I will be doing a video soon of how good the back of the bus looks – and how we managed to fit in more storage space. The extra storage space will blow your mind!! Sure amazed me how David can look outside the square and find solutions to many different issues. It also means that I get extra cupboards in the bus, and a washing machine added that will be big enough for all our boy’s clothes.
Till next time – stay safe.
We Are So Close – Do you Love What We Have Done?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road
Woohoo! Congratulations on getting that washing machine space. You’ll be so pleased you did! xx
So agree Shelley 🙂 So good to have you stay over the other day, and so glad I was able to pick your brains for what we do need in the bus and what we don’t need in the bus!!! Gosh I have such itchy feet – my heart is not in our home anymore but waiting to get on the road 🙂
Take care and see you some where on the road !
Cheers
Lisa
How exciting, only a couple of weeks and your life is going to change completely. I think it would feel great not to have all that stuff packed away for when you get back. When I grew up on the road, my life wasn’t filled with material items and I never felt I missed out on not having anything (except I really wanted a baby born doll which I never got) We were always travelling with other families we had met on the way and life was definately never lonely. The only thing I hated was changing schools so much but you have taken this into consideration by homeschooling your boys. Great choice.

Thanks Jackie – I never realised you travelled so much!! I always wanted a “Cabbage Patch Doll” with a stamp on its buttom to say it was the real deal….and I never got one 🙂
Looking forward to sitting back and watching my boys have fun.
Cheers

Not long to go now Lisa and David.
I’ve must be a great feeling to realize you don’t need all the material possessions.
Do you deliver….just kidding.
I’m looking forward to seeing the progress with the bus, as I think we are all sharing your excitement.
Cheers,
Cade

G’day Lisa and David,
What about taking this piano player with you ? Entertainment and an HR licence !
Kidding of course.
Having moved from a house to a small unit I can appreciate how little you need to keep and how much to get rid of. David, you must be a genius to get the washing machine organised – good on you mate !
Happy Motoring !

Wow…Lisa you must be so excited about your trip on the road. What a fantastic thing to do! I love your comment about how what a wife says is only ever listened to when another opinion confirms it? Havn’t men realised that us girls are always right 😉 GoodLuck with the trip, will be exciting to see where you end up!
