Today we finally stopped in to Oodies Cafe in Bundaberg – I have wanted to stop there for so very long but time/plans haven’t allowed us. Today David and I wanted some much needed “Us Time” as we haven’t had any in so very long, and now that we have a new baby in the house we were craving time together without our boys/baby puppy dog!
Now to find time to go there on a Friday night with out the kids – A real date with just the two of us, good food, wine/beer – heaven on earth! Yeah I don’t know when we were ever get the time for that but hey I can dream can’t I?
Oodies Cafe A Touch Of Culture In Bundaberg ::
One thing we miss in Bundaberg is a a touch of Culture, the cafes in Melbourne are amazing – even the ones on the Sunshine Coast are so very cool. But Bundaberg is lacking in a quirky friendly family place – one with style – one with character – one with good food – one that feels like walking into a home. Until today. We found our new favorite cafe in Bundaberg and we will be going back with our boys.
Actually when our older boys come home its the place we will be heading to. We love eating out together, and we normally find its disappointing because the food never ever lives up to the value. David is such a good cook that we find it hard to eat out and enjoy the taste of what they have on the menu – he cooks with organic gluten free ingredients, from scratch as much as possible. With fresh herbs and spices, and such amazing recipes.
Oodies Cafe are not Gluten free, but the salad choices make it easy to chose something that will fit in with eating safely for us. David broke all his rules and had a Steak Burger – his favorite dish when we are out and about – and it was the bomb!
If you are looking for a good quality cafe to eat out at, with friendly staff, an owner that will greet their customers, quirky decor then look no further then Oodies Cafe – A Touch of Culture In Bundaberg – you will almost think you are in Melbourne!
I love salads, they are my favorite dish to eat when out and about so I decided to try the “Nuts About Salad” meal. It has Chicken Breast, Mixed Leaves, Quinoa, Fetta, Sun-dried Tomato, Sweet Potato & Walnuts with a Honey Mustard Dressing.
Because it was our first time at Oodies Cafe {I keep going to call it Oldies Cafe!!!!} we were not sure on the portion sizes. We now realise that a side of hot chips would have been great if we had our two boys with us, as I was full with my salad, and David was full with his choice!
Mind you he was able to fit them in 🙂
The Oodies Cafe is owned by two sisters, who decided that Bundaberg needed a cafe where you could go and eat and have it feel like home. We have to say they hit the feeling well. Suzy was explaining that the cafe has been going for 2 years, and was based on a need for some place where the food was good, the decor different and the staff friendly. Suzy explained that her and her Husband travel and love to eat out at Cafes/Restaurants but felt that Bundaberg was lacking in a place that could meet the needs of other travelers/people who live in the town.
Its being going strong for 2 years, with the Coffee Barista so very happy with his job that he has been there since it opened! That is saying something – if the staff are happy then the owners must be doing something right.
So can’t wait to return with our boys when we get the chance.
Thanks Oodies Cafe A Touch Of Culture In Bundaberg was so needed!
