After we had been driving all day from Bundaberg to Childers {for a petrol stop}, on to Ban Ban Springs for lunch break, to Nanango for a coffee break we were heading to a free camping spot past Toowoomba but our Campervan had other ideas!
David had replaced the Carburetor in the Campervan before we left on our trip. It had been running rough for weeks, and we knew it had to be done. Unfortunately it was still running rough but I had done a trip to Brisbane and back the weekend before with no issues, so we headed off with confidence that our old girl would make it to Sydney and back no issues.
But we were about 30 minutes to Toowoomba when she was sucking in air, and not getting enough fuel {or getting too much at once}. We pulled into a Petrol Station in Toowoomba, thinking a good quality fuel might flush the issue through. But after filling up she crawled the car park area and stopped. RACQ was called – we are Premium members and have been for years, it has saved our butts big time so many times over the years.
Mind you we had no idea where to get towed to in Toowoomba, nor where to stay over night?
Luck was on our side {once again} because we had an older gentlemen who turned up – he stated that once a upon a time he was able to pull the engine parts apart and have a look, now days he is basically allowed to change/sell a battery or see if we have run out of fuel. When he first started with RACQ he would pull the Carburetor apart to see where the issue was.
All he could do was check our oil, water and see if we were getting any Fuel. Once he determined that we had Fuel going through, oil and water, he decided to try one more trick.
He hit the Carburetor with his spanner, this then freed up the issue – the float value was jammed shut! It started up and we were once again on our way {thanking you Guardian Angels for looking after us}.
It was soon determined that it was too dark to keep driving, we were keen to hit the sack so we stayed in a caravan park in Toowoomba. Which turned out to be the best thing ever because we got to see Picnic Point in Toowoomba, the Japanese Gardens and did two geocaches in the area!
Actually we all loved Toowooomba old charm – the old houses are super sweet, and we would like to return another time soon to explore more of the area.
Toowoomba was one area we hadn’t been to before so we asked on our Facebook Page where was the best places to visit. Thanks to Caroline Dalgleish for the recommendation of what to see and where to go. We didn’t have time for Cobb n Co Museum so we will have to return another time. But we loved the Water Tower and The Japanese Gardens!
We did stop in at the Toowoomba Information Centre, to find a geocache and to also find out what is great to see in the area!
The trees reminded me of the trees in Canberra.
Picnic Point Toowoomba :
Have you been to Toowoomba Picnic Point? Have you done any of the Walking Trails? Which one would you recommend?
There was love locks on the railings – we have seen love locks heaps in Wollongong and down at Kiama Blow Hole! Also down in Melbourne At Night Time – gosh there is so many locks on that bridge that you can’t see the railings! Then there is also some in Manly!
Did not see how to get down to this beautiful picnic area? Would be so nice to sit there and have our lunch!
I so reckon we could travel Australia from Playground to Playground! Kyle loves exploring, and he gets so excited when we come across a playground. The one across the road from Toowoomba Picnic Point is super cute – wait to you see the next pic!
We then went from Toowoomba Picnic Point to the Japanese Gardens – it was the most beautiful place. I will share those photos soon – not sure if it was as beautiful as the Cowra Japanese Gardens in New South Wales! But then again that day was special, Cameron was able to pet a Bird!
Have You Been To Toowoomba Picnic Point?
We have so many amazing places to share, can’t wait to be able to share all of our places we have been to in the last month!
Thanking you for following, would love to hear from you, please share this post so others can see where to Travel in Australia!
Cheers
