So we decided to go camping! At Xmas time, In the Australian Summer heat! Yep, who does that? In swags!!! The woody family does. And it was super fun and so what we all needed.
Fraser Island New Life on the Road
We needed that escape like nothing else ever. And would we go again to Fraser Island? New Life on the Road family so would go back In a heartbeat…..not sure when we are going to be able to make it back there, but hopefully sometime soon.
And Yes He Made it across InerSkip Point and Didn’t get bogged!
Being our first time on Fraser Island we were all super cautious and kept wanting to check that the beach was safe to cross, so we were all happy when our oldest would stop to check the water level before crossing it with his brand new car!
We were determined to reach two spots on Fraser Island. One being the SS Maheno Ship Wreck and the other being the Champagne Pools.
The SS Maheno – She was also used as a ship by the New Zealand Naval Forces during World War I; as His Majesty’s New Zealand Hospital Ship No. 1. She was washed ashore on Fraser Island by a cyclone in 1935 where the disintegrating wreck remains as a popular tourist attraction.
For more great information about the history of SS Maheno check it out over on Wikipedia < click on the hi-lighted words SS Maheno >
We then got back into our sons 4WD and continued onto Champagne Pools- so worth the long drive there! Fraser Island has been on my bucket list for so long, and sometimes my dreams seem like they are slipping away from me, beyond grateful to my oldest son for taking us there for a day trip. Can’t wait to go back camping there for a week.
We didn’t even get to see the Fraser Island Lighthouse and that is so on my bucket list so yep another trip is a must.
Have you ever been to Fraser Island?
What did you get to see?
Would you go back?
Would love to hear from our readers!
Cheers
Lisa
