You all know how much we love to escape, travel and explore, and how we are currently stuck in our life with responsibilities that we must look after, but yet my soul is craving/screaming out for more adventures and being here in our current situation is actually killing a lot of my dreams.
So when one of our sons were coming home for Xmas and wanted to help us escape he was like “Lets Go Camping He Said, It Will Be Fun He Said” – yeah WHO GOES CAMPING in this yucky summer heat? In swags? The Woody family does of course.
And gee was I sure glad we didn’t say “nope, its Xmas time and there are too many things that need to be done”.
So we put aside the idea of having to cook meals before the one day of the year where everyone pigs out and gets too tired afterward, and we went camping down at Rainbow Beach. Now we have been to Rainbow Beach heaps of times, but we hadn’t gone to the caravan park that we went to, nor had we ever been on Fraser Island before. So we were able to scratch another bucket list moment from our magical three-day escape.
Yeah, we went camping on the Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd, and Sunday 23rd – never mind having to get Xmas food ready hey!
Gosh, I so needed the escape, and I so didn’t want to come back here to reality. When can we go again?
Hopefully soon – and I really want to return to Fraser Island for at least a week of camping – it was so much fun and so much to see and do. The one day wasn’t long enough.
It was our first time going 4wd on the beach in our son’s car, and he did so well. He got through the famous “I got bogged at Innes Skip Point” without getting bogged! Yeah there is a Facebook group all dedicated to getting bogged at the crossing to the barge, or getting bogged over on Fraser Island!!! Yeah I didn’t know there was such a group for such a thing either.
And he went on the beach without getting us stuck at any time.
I have so many pictures captured of our day and will share them here as soon as I can – until then I sure hope you all had a wonderful magical Xmas day/Boxing Day and I hope your New Years Eve will be just as magical.
Here are a few of our favorite moments of our trip –
He got out at this point, to see how deep the tide was, and he was able to walk it across easily so we all felt safe enough to cross it with his car.
Every single moment on Fraser Island was the best – even the huge walk where I thought I was going to die from the heat/the hot sand and the long walk to Lake Wabby – gosh I am so going to love sharing that story with his grandkids one day!
Hey we even took our Elves on the Shelf with us!
We had a wonderful time – going off-road, camping, walking, spending time with family. And wished we could go back asap.
Have You Been Camping In The Summer Time?
Have upload our wonderful Fraser Island time. Will upload asap our magical time at Rainbow Beach Carlo Sandblow
Hope You All Had A Magical Xmas
Cheers
