Today we crossed a Bucket List Adventure off. Since seeing the Whales on the Sunshine Coast, we have now been to two whale cruises in Bundaberg, gosh have we seen some amazing whales, and even dolphins! Check out the Best Whale Watching in Bundaberg post to see our magical moment of seeing 2 Dolphins!
We have always wanted to see the Whales and have come close to booking many times over the years but sometimes plans change. Today nothing was stopping us from keeping our booking with Whale Watching Sunshine Coast, even after seeing the AIDA Opera at Moncrieff theater very late last night, and then having to be on the road by 7.00am this morning, to be back in time was not going to stop us!
We are all exhausted and hope to be in bed early, but I thought I would quickly have a look through the pictures that we got of a Mama and her baby Whale. Mind you the pictures can never ever capture the moment of when the baby came so very close to the Boat, so close that you could see its eye!
It was almost like the baby was checking out the people on the boat, as if to say “Hey you are in our waters, whats up?”
And the Mother must have been very relaxed and trusted the Whale Watching Boat because she was not concerned with the Baby Whale coming up very close. Oh gosh that baby was sweet with the way it played in the water, it was so very cheeky to its Mum – like they were playing a game of Tag. The Mama Whale was pushing the baby, as if to say “Hey knock it off already”.
The more the Baby Whale played the more Mama Whale push…and they played a game of courtship with the Whale Watching Boat. Making sure it was safe to be near and at the same time showing off!
Whale Watching Sunshine Coast
I had to take Cameron downstairs because he got very “Sea Sick” {literally!} and upstairs was too bumpy for him. But I liked it downstairs as I was able to easily move around the Boat to see the Whales! And yes Cameron was all okay after he was sick, and the plain packet of chips helped!
We were all able to return to watching the whales out there. Luckily they were so playful.
Oh you have no idea how much of a Buzz it was to see the Mama and the Calf Whale – and to tick off another Bucket List adventure. It was good for the soul, and good after all of the very hard work we have all being pulling off all week long at David’s Parents place! We were super glad that we had booked Whale Watching on the Sunshine Coast – in Mooloolaba before everything went down, it meant that we had to be back on the Sunshine Coast today!
Now we have a week left on the Sunshine Coast, a week where I am going to try and fit in as much as possible as well as cleaning up the Holiday Apartment, Massaging Practice and some where in all of that….sleep!!!

Wow, love the photos
Your photos are just stunning! I too have always wanted to do this, but I just never manage to make it out on a boat.

Wow! This would be my dream! I had been whale watching in Boston, USA before but seeing a mom and a calf and up so close…must have been amazing 🙂 Great to know about this place too as we are doing a 6 week campervan trip from Melbourne to Cairns next April and would definitely do this if it’s the right season to see whales then. What an awesome experience. I haven’t been on a whale watch yet. It’s still on my bucket list, as is swimming with dolphins.
