You all know that saying “Do what You Love and You won’t Have To Work A Day In Your Life?” Well, I never ever knew what I wanted to do or be when I Grow Up. Funny enough I never had any feelings of “Oh I want to be..” {fill in the blanks} when I leave school.
Or “Oh I want to be….” When I had finished having babies and raising my boys. So I just stumbled around and never knew exactly what I wanted to do or where I fit into groups in life.
I have always felt like I was on the outside, looking in. Never ever accepted anywhere into any groups or feel comfortable in any situation.
But lately I have felt like I now know my passion and I feel like I am heading down the right pathway of When I Grow Up I Want To Be….
I want to own my business. And my passion is now finding that special one thing that I want to do with my life.
I love decluttering. It’s my number one passion of all time. I love getting rid of stuff, I love seeing spaces opening up around the place because of less stuff. I love giving away to charity shops, and getting rid of stuff to the bin. It makes me so happy and feels like a burden has been taken off my shoulders.
If I had my way I could easily live out of a Back Pack. I don’t own many clothes, and when I do pack to go away on trips I can easily use the smallest bag ever.
You see I don’t have any attachment to stuff. It’s meaningless to me. You come into this world with nothing, and when you leave this world you can’t take it with you. Simple as. You leave this world with nothing. Its just stuff.
The past weekend we looked after one of our friend’s property. It has over 340 acres and its a beautiful place – especially for our son who wants his own farm one day. It has heaps of horses, cows, chickens, and a dog. We were allowed to take our own dogs but Coco Loco doesn’t accept any other dogs but Beauty so we had to leave them both home.
We loved the fact that we could easily love on the horses but didn’t have the full-time responsibility that goes with owning one! I had one when I was 18 and they take a lot of time and money.
It was a huge house to clean. And we have even been helping our friend with the decluttering process from room to room. I couldn’t do the KonMari Method because it’s a five-bedroom homestead and there was one room that had so much stuff piled up high in it so we focused on that room. We took everything out to be able to see the floors, and then we went through four bookcases of books and downsized them.
Then we moved on to the art/craft shelving and then the school shelves. There was so much stuff to sort through and lookout. And so much went to charity. Only the things that sparkled joy was placed into containers and put back.
She had to do all of the hard work. I do the easy work – taking it all out and starting the process of what she wanted to keep, what she wanted to part with. That is the hard part for those that love their things around them, I could easily have ditched it all. But in the process, she soon realised how little things she needed to hold onto.
And that there is my passion. Helping others to let go of stuff, and to see what is really important to their lives.
Now to work out how to turn the method of decluttering into a business!
When You Grow Up what did you want to be?
Do you love letting go of stuff or holding onto it?
Cheers
